Where and in what capacity are you involved in disability area?
I am currently working as Centre Head for I.S.N.I, International Special Needs Institution in India.

Your Background and/or Profile:
After completing 25 years of my service in the banking sector, I have felt a need to join the humanitarian sector to contribute my professional expertise.  I have done my M.S. in counseling and psychotherapy from IPMS, Mumbai which is recognized by W.H.O in 2004.
I have done my Diploma in Special Education from KPAMRC, Bangalore, 2003 and a Certification in Soft Skills from Nizam College, Hyderabad. I have worked as a remedial Teacher for children with learning disabilities in Baldwin's Opportunity School, Bangalore and also conducted workshops for students on various subjects to improve their learning skills.

About your organization or association:
Women with disabilities are the last priority in many countries, and are condemned to live their lives as a discriminated lot, whose lives are perceived as having no potential to improve. We at ISNI impart vocational training and employment programs to improve the conditions of such disabled and mistreated women. By using social entrepreneurship  model we facilitate vocational training and these women with disabilities produce high quality products like greeting cards, folders, artefacts, accessories,  candles, hand made paper gifts, clothing etc  and make it reach to the end users. With this model they are able to lead an independent life.

What ways could provisions for people with disabilities can be enhanced?
In my experience, I have observed that People with disabilities suffer from lack of self confidence. A bit of encouragement goes a long way in boosting their morale and self worth. Some of the greatest achievers of the world are people with such disabilities. We can motivate people with disabilities to make their role models and acquire inspiration from great achievers, which will help them to face challenges with courage and confidence. The stake holders can capitalize on their strengths and enable them to find means to provide a livelihood rather than just focusing on academics.

Your Message to the global disabled community:
God has created each person unique. You are one of them and you are special and have something in you that others don't. Be proud of who you are!

Additional Comments:
"EACH HUMAN BEING HAS UNIQUE ABILITIES. THEY JUST HAVE TO BE DISCOVERED!".
